Chris Gaynor, MD, MA, FAAFP

Christopher Gaynor, MD, (he/him) is thrilled to join Capitol Hill Medical, to do more of what he considers part of his life mission of providing top-quality health care to Greater Seattle's GLBTQI+ community.

As a Seattle-trained family physician who has worked in this community for the past 21 years, Chris cares for patients at all points on the continuum of life, from birth to death. A Masters degree and experience in Counseling Psychology have informed his work as a family physician. Past work and training with nontraditional healing arts has reinforced an incremental approach to care. He enjoys working with patients on wellness and prevention, acute and chronic disease management, sports and orthopedic issues, and sexual and behavioral health concerns.

He is an experienced provider of transgender care, HIV prevention and management, queer care and the care of members of the poly community. His profound experiences working with minority and immigrant populations have helped hone his proficiency in cross-cultural care.

He enjoys performing office procedures such as skin biopsies and excisions, joint and soft tissue injections/drainage, abscess and wound management, simple laceration repair, IUD placement and removal, splinting and casting, among others. He has extensive experience working with first responders, especially Seattle firefighters, and workers in a wide variety of other occupations.

Chris is an award-winning teacher of medical students and family medicine residents, and has served in numerous roles in the Washington Academy of Family Physicians, including President. He is currently working with the WSMA Behavioral Health Subcommittee.

Chris has sung with the Seattle Mens Chorus since 2008. He enjoys spending time with his husband and their son. He looks forward to meeting and caring for former patients of Dave Holt, resuming care of many of his own former patients, and meeting some new ones.
